Bibletime Lessons: Level 4
Lesson No. 1 – Praying to God
The book of first Samuel records the change in Israel from the period of the Judges to the times of the Kings. Samuel was the last of the great judges and also one of Israel’s greatest prophets. The book begins by giving us a short history of Samuel’s family and the events leading up to his birth.
1 Samuel 1: 1-28
Lesson No. 2 – Growing before God
Hannah’s prayer fills the first ten verses of this chapter. She praises God for what He has done. Hannah goes on to describe how the Lord can completely change a person’s circumstances.
1 Samuel 2: 1-36
Lesson No. 3 – Listening to God
If Samuel was going to serve God fully, he must be able to recognize God’s voice when He spoke to him. We might think that God’s voice would always be so loud and clear that nobody could ever mistake it for any other voice. That, however, is not always so. Even Samuel at first failed to understand that it was God who was calling him.
1 Samuel 3: 1-21
Lesson No. 4 – Working for God
Many years have passed since Samuel was a boy helping Eli in the House of the Lord. Now he is an old man, with grown-up sons. Unfortunately, his sons did not follow his example.
1 Samuel 8: 1-10; 9: 1-27; 10: 1
