Royal Manitoba Winter Fair - 2010

This was our sixth year at the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair in Brandon. This annual six day event brings people from all across our province, as well as from Ontario & Saskatchewan and also up from USA. Though focused much on the agricultural world there is much to encourage families to attend. The large arena stages horse jumping and the Super Dogs Show, among other things. Then there are the exhibition halls where you can learn about or buy anything from frying pans to farming pens!

Our booth is in an ideal spot in the main display area. We share a double booth (10’ x 20’) with believers who attend the Gospel Hall in Brandon. They primarily distribute VIA Magazines Seed Sower Texts & Pens and hold a free draw for a beautiful large framed Gospel text. This year they offered an assortment of free Gospel Message CD’s (these can be heard on or obtained from www.goodnewsnow.info – see photos below) along with a special 17 minute Gospel message DVD entitled 'The Good Test’. (This is available through the 2010 VIA Magazine – see back page.)

This year besides focusing the passer-by on our range of colour lessons with our main backdrop display, as it was the Easter weekend at the end of the fair , we also highlighted the Easter message. Our main banner declared 'The Lord is Risen’ and we also had photos of Calvary - 'The place of the skull’ and 'The Garden Tomb’. Once again we had a draw for a Bible and gave away 1092 new colourful magnets, with a verse of Scripture on one side, and our PBS website address on the reverse.

Several of our PBS teachers plus other interested friends helped us to man the booth from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. Besides encouraging kids and their parents to check out our website and sign up in April to enter our free draw, we also had an electronic Quiz Box, with a series of 10 'True or False’ Questions that many young people had a go at. Sometimes we would meet PBS students and their families and they were given an extra 'surprise’ for stopping by the booth.

The Brandon Winter Fair is usually held the last week of March, (the time of the School Spring Break) so look out for us next year, God willing, as we plan to be there again! (2011 dates – March 28th – April 2nd, God willing)

PBS Booth at the annual Saskatchewan Home Based Educators Conference

Our first visit to the Saskatchewan Home Based Educators Conference was most encouraging. We had ideal driving conditions for the journey to and from Regina and discovered we had been given an excellent site among the other exhibitors. The parents we spoke to who very enthusiastic about signing up their children and by the end of February 24 new students had signed up to join PBS.
