PBS Booth at the annual Saskatchewan Home Based Educators Conference

Our first visit to the Saskatchewan Home Based Educators Conference was most encouraging. We had ideal driving conditions for the journey to and from Regina and discovered we had been given an excellent site among the other exhibitors. The parents we spoke to who very enthusiastic about signing up their children and by the end of February 24 new students had signed up to join PBS.

Royal Manitoba Winter Fair - 2009

This was our fifth year at the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair in Brandon, Manitoba. This annual six day event brings people from all across the province and up from the States as well. Though focused much on the agricultural world there is much to encourage families to attend. The large arena stages horse jumping and a special Dog Show, among other things. Then there are the exhibition halls where you can learn about or buy anything from saddles to sausages!

Our booth is in an ideal spot in the main display area. We share a double booth (10’ x 20’) with believers who attend the Gospel Hall in Brandon. They primarily distribute VIA Magazines (see Our Links) and hold a free draw for a beautiful large framed Gospel text. This year they offered an assortment of free Gospel Message CD’s (these can be heard on or obtained from www.goodnewsnow.info) along with a special 15 minute Gospel message DVD entitled ‘Answers to Life’s Questions’.

This year we highlighted our new colour lessons on our main backdrop display, under the banner ‘The World’s Best Seller has a message for you!’ Once again we had a draw for a Bible and gave away over 1300 colourful magnets, with a verse of Scripture on one side, and our new website address on the reverse.

Several of our PBS teachers plus other interested friends helped us to man the booth from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. Besides encouraging folk to enter our free draws and seeking to encourage children and their parents to consider doing the PBS lessons, we also had an electronic Quiz Box, with a series of 10 ‘True or False’ Questions that many young people had a go at. Sometimes we would meet PBS students and their families and they were given an extra ‘surprise’ for stopping by the booth.

The Brandon Winter Fair is usually held the last week of March, (the time of the School Spring Break) so look out for us next year, God willing, as we plan to be there again!
